Welcome to our recently updated and renovated website.  During the past year it has been a privilege to serve as the president of the Rhode Island Radiology Society (RIRS). The RIRS consists of radiologists from varied practice settings who share in the common goals of improving radiologic service to patients and advancing the science of radiology both at the local and national levels.  We strive to be active participants in discussions shaping health care and particularly those related to the practice of radiology.  We advocate for the maintenance of high medical and ethical standards in the practice of radiology and encourage improved and continuing education for radiologists.

RIRS is devoted to being the vehicle by which radiologists can speak with a common voice regarding issues that may affect our ability to provide high quality and cost effective health care.

Some of the issues which the RIRS has addressed this year include: the RI imaging services surcharge,  preauthorization, appropriate utilization of imaging resources, and appropriate reimbursement for the level of services provided.  We strive to keep an active resident and fellow section, our source for tomorrow’s leaders.

We encourage all radiologists to take an active role in the RIRS.  All of us who practice in Rhode Island benefit from these efforts.
